Sarah Personally Pledges



To Operate:
· In a mode of leadership, involving state, district, and local
  leaders along with staff in the planning and executing of the
  activities of the VEA
· From a position of service rather than power
To Work for:
· Great public schools in EVERY community in Virginia
· A united “member driven” VEA
· A VEA that is respectful and responsive to members and 
  staff
· Collaborative partnerships with all stake holders (parents, 
  community organizations, businesses, philanthropical
  groups, etc.)
· Development of a long range plan to ensure consistency 
  and adequate services to all members
· A VEA that is “issue driven, party blind”
· A comprehensive plan for increasing and retaining  
  membership
· Advocating for the salaries of Virginia educators to that 
  equal to our per capita income rank
· Establishing VEA mentors in every district for all new
  members in their first three years
To Ensure:
· That we honor diversity within our association
· That the VEA operates in an ethical and transparent 
  manner in all activities
· That all voices, even dissenting voices, are included and
  treated with civility in decision making
· VEA offers professional development opportunities for all 
  educators that are relevant to their needs
· That VEA presents a positive and identifiable image to the
  public
· That VEA is a force on every college campus in Virginia
· VEA works collaboratively to properly utilize all the support
  that NEA has to offer
· That every staff member has the support and resources 
  needed to complete their jobs
· That every staff member is evaluated and held accountable 
  for performing their duties
